The Jollibee Group and the Pasig City Government inked a partnership for the implementation of the company’s inclusive employment program that will provide qualified senior citizens and persons with disability in Pasig with jobs at select stores of Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, and Burger King in the city.

The Jollibee Group has recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the city government of Pasig, represented by its Mayor Vico Sotto, as part of the company’s inclusive employment program that provides gainful employment to qualified senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWD) in select stores in Pasig of Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, and Burger King.

Through this partnership, we recognize their invaluable role, capacity, and desire to work by giving them the opportunity to become productive members of the community. Globe Group, local partners turn Lolo, Lola into #SeniorDigizens in digital inclusion push

Leading digital solutions platform Globe Group is set to transform the digital landscape for Filipino seniors with its innovative "Teach Me How To Digi" #SeniorDigizen Learning Session, set on January 25 at the Skydome, SM North Edsa.

Gathering at least 220 senior citizens in half a day of enriching tech learning, the #SeniorDigizens event is backed by some of the biggest brands in tech and retail, and by senior citizen advocates from the government.

“It’s really very important that our senior citizens learn digital skills because in the future, a lot of services will truly become fully digital. We have to help the seniors overcome their fear. And I guarantee you that once you try it, it’s going to be as easy or much easier than the old manual way.” ~Ernest Cu, Globe Group President and CEO

“As digitalization accelerates, tech adoption should be simple and easy for everyone, no matter the age. Technology should not be intimidating or difficult for our seniors, and they should be able to enjoy its benefits. The goal of our #SeniorDigizens campaign is to equip them with knowledge that will help them adopt new tech and apps that address their day to day pain points.” ~Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer of the Globe Group

The event features learning sessions on digital skills: How to create a Gmail account to be facilitated by Google, a 101 course on using smartphones via Globe, and sessions on using fintech platform GCash and telehealth service KonsultaMD.

Apart from hosting the event at Sky Dome, retail giant, SM, is providing an opportunity for senior citizens to join the Super Grannies Club (SGC), the grandest Facebook community for seasoned individuals. As SGC members, participants gain early access to events, exclusive mall deals and updates on SM Cares programs. These include health and wellness activities like Walk for Life, the award-winning Emergency Preparedness Forum and community service programs that enable a fun, active and productive lifestyle for lolos and lolas.

SM’s loyalty program SMAC, meanwhile, sponsored the event in SM Malls, as it is one with Globe in giving importance and joy to senior citizens.

“We are happy to support Globe in bringing to fruition our shared vision of digitalizing seniors. SM has long given seniors priority in our initiatives, and so our partnership with Globe for the #SeniorDigizens campaign is natural and seamless.” ~Jay Beltran, Head of Sales and Marketing, Digital Advantage Corporation (DAC)

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), led by its Chairperson and CEO Atty. Frank Quijano, has a booth where seniors will be guided on how to register in its database, which the agency hopes to build to take stock of the living situation, health concerns, skills and other important information about the country’s roughly 11 million senior citizens. The NCSC will also bring volunteers to help seniors in tech tutorials.

“We thank Globe for embarking on this program that addresses major concerns when it comes to seniors: digitalization and online safety. We at NCSC have been pursuing our own efforts to bring the elderly into the digital space safely, and we are happy to find an ally in the private sector to introduce seniors to new technologies while at the same time protecting them from the dangers that lurk online.” ~Atty. Frank Quijano, The National Commission of Senior Citizens Chairperson and CEO

Rep. Milagros Aquino-Magsaysay of United Senior Citizens Partylist is also on board, bringing senior citizen delegates to the event.

“We’d like to congratulate Globe for giving seniors priority through its #SeniorDigizens campaign. This is an initiative worth emulating. United Senior Citizens Partylist is one with Globe in seeing this through.” ~Rep. Milagros Aquino-Magsaysay of United Senior Citizens Partylist

The Quezon City government also brought a delegation of senior citizens to the event and provided crucial logistics support.

“The city government of Quezon City is proud to partner with Globe in this undertaking. In QC, we give our seniors top priority in terms of public services to help them live their sunset years as active and productive members of society. This project is key in helping them transition into a digital life and help them enjoy the benefits of modern technology.” ~Joy Belmonte, Quezon City Mayor

Meanwhile, #TeamGlobeofGood influencers Kiray Celis and Chuckie Dreyfus are lending their talent and bringing entertainment to the event, while internet personality Lester “Buji” Babiera, a talent of Globe Group agency NYMA, is bringing his brand of dynamic hosting onstage.

The #SeniorDigizen learning session, a significant effort to close the digital divide for the elderly, follows the success of the “Teach Me How to Digi” TikTok contest held in September last year. The contest received over 200 impressive videos showcasing tech lessons imparted by younger family members to their senior loved ones.

At the event, Globe will award 25 winners with prizes worth P25,000. They will also get to take part in the learning session.

"We are excited to help our senior citizens take their first steps into the digital world, ensuring they are not left behind in this fast-paced digital era. This event is our commitment to ensuring that they are not just consumers of technology but actively engaged in the evolving tech-savvy society.” ~Liza Reyes, Public Relations and Communications Strategy Head at the Globe Group

Globe’s #SeniorDigizen campaign promises not only to educate but also inspire a new generation of empowered seniors, ready to engage and connect in today's rapidly evolving digital environment.

To kick-off the brand’s support, BingoPlus started its on-ground presence by staging its first booth on January 6 at the World Tent City. Cebuanos immediately felt the fun and entertainment through the games that were set up in the booths, such as the color game and ring toss. Additional BingoPlus booths were also staged at Fuente Osmena, Plaza Independencia, and SRP Grandstand to reach a larger audience and to spread the fun and entertainment. Adding-up to the activities previously mentioned, photo wall, winner drop ball, roll the dice, and archery were also an engagement activity in the BingoPlus booth.

Organic Dairy PH: Danish Dairy Board launches awareness campaign on European organic dairy in the Philippines

The Danish Dairy Board (DDB), an interbrand organization representing dairies in Denmark, supported by the European Union (EU), has launched an educational campaign called Organic Dairy PH to raise awareness about European organic dairy in the Philippines. This initiative is designed to highlight the excellence of European organic dairy, its nutritional benefits, and the sustainable practices guiding its production. Through this campaign, DDB aims to empower consumers to make informed and satisfying choices when selecting organic dairy products.

Organic dairy products—such as organic UHT full cream milk, organic UHT low-fat milk, organic fresh milk, organic low-fat fresh milk, and organic cream cheese—are produced using a holistic approach that prioritizes natural, sustainable practices. This approach conforms to strict standards that prohibit the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and genetically modified organisms. It focuses on practices that promote animal welfare, preserve biodiversity and the environment, ensure a supply of safe and nutritious food, and reduce climate impact.

Moreover, dairy products play a significant role in developing a nutritious diet for both children and adults, as they are packed with essential nutrients, including protein, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamins like B2 and B12.

To help consumers in the Philippines learn more about European organic dairy, DDB has launched a 3-year educational campaign, co-funded by the EU. This initiative is particularly timely, aligning with the growing concern among consumers about the nutritional content of their food. A recent study by Food Industry Asia reveals that 94% of surveyed consumers actively check for nutrition information on packaging before making food or drink purchases. In addition, the demand for dairy products in the Philippines is expected to increase by 3 percent, reaching 3.5 million metric tons in liquid milk equivalent by 2024, according to the USDA.

"Producing high-quality dairy products involves a deep respect for the land, the animals, and the consumers. It is about creating a harmonious, sustainable system that prioritizes quality without compromising on ethical standards. Through the campaign, our aim is to help consumers understand what makes organic dairy naturally good, particularly the numerous benefits it delivers to our body and the environment.” ~Mr. Ejvind Pedersen, Manager, Organic Food and Farming, Danish Agriculture & Food Council

The campaign includes Tasting Days at leading supermarkets and grocery stores in Metro Manila where consumers can sample organic dairy products until January 2024. Participating locations include Landers (Alabang, Arcovia, UP Town Center, BGC), SM Supermarket (Aura, Megamall), The Landmark Supermarket (Alabang, BGC, Makati, Trinoma), South Supermarket (Filinvest), and The Marketplace (Central Square, EDSA Shangri-La, Glorietta/Makati, Greenbelt, Rockwell).

Additionally, DDB will conduct VIP Consumer Classes, which will give attendees an opportunity to dive deeper into Europe’s expertise in producing high-quality organic dairy, gain insights into the nutritional benefits of organic dairy products, and learn several tips on creating meal plans and tasty dishes with organic dairy. DDB will also collaborate with influencers as well as parenting and food communities on social media throughout the campaign for a more interactive and engaging learning experience. Interested participants may follow Organic Dairy PH on Facebook and Instagram for more updates on how to register.

Consumers participating in these activities will receive an exclusive consumer kit, featuring the Naturally Good magazine published by DDB. The magazine is designed to be a helpful resource that offers a wealth of information on organic dairy production, along with easy and delicious recipes infused with the goodness of organically sourced ingredients.

"The Danish Dairy Board is thrilled to see more consumers in the Philippines embrace the quality and rich tradition of European organic dairy as a result of this campaign. We believe consumers deserve access to a diverse range of top-tier dairy options that not only offer exceptional taste but also adhere to stringent standards and sustainability practices.” ~Mr. Lars Witt Jensen, Senior Marketing Manager, DDB

Stay tuned for upcoming events and discover the naturally good benefits that European organic dairy brings to your table. Follow Organic Dairy PH on Facebook and Instagram to learn more.

BPI champions sustainability, launches electric vehicle for employees

The electric vehicle will provide free shuttle service to BPI employees commuting to and from MRT Buendia Station and BPI Buendia Center. Soon, it will add another stop at One Ayala Terminal.

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has leased a new electric vehicle (EV) unit in a bid to gradually replace its old gas-powered fleet vehicles and curtail its greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption.

BPI has partnered with Global Electric Transportation (GET), a provider of EVs that use fast-charging lithium-ion batteries, to supply its new EV unit that will be used to provide free shuttle services for its employees travelling between BPI Buendia Center and MRT Buendia Station.

“In BPI, we believe that the first step to building a sustainable future is by starting within ourselves, within the organization. We are excited to roll out a more environment-friendly and sustainable shuttle service for our employees. This forms part of our mission to help build a better Philippines—one family, one community at a time.” ~TG Limcaoco, BPI President and CEO

The EV could potentially reduce the Bank’s diesel consumption by 30,000 liters per year, which in turn will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40,000 kilograms of CO2 per year.

“We are glad to see that more companies are pushing for the use of EVs and starting to realize its positive impact not only on the environment but also on their bottom line. We are happy to partner with BPI and support their sustainability initiatives through our sustainable transport solutions.” ~Freddie Tinga, GET President

BPI and GET executives host an inaugural ride of the electric vehicle.

The EV features a wider body and plenty of passenger room for 30 people compared with traditional shuttles that can only accommodate and ferry up to 15 passengers at a time.

In terms of social inclusivity, the EV has a wheelchair ramp that allows persons with disabilities (PWDs) to easily board and alight the vehicle. The ramp also allows easier boarding for people carrying bikes and other wheeled items.

BPI President and CEO TG Limcaoco and GET President Freddie Tinga (center) launched the electric vehicle service for BPI employees. With them are (from left): Severino Sumulong, GET Director of Legal Services; Frankie Endriga, GET Chief Operating Officer; Anthony Dy, GET Managing Director; Jaime Zobel Urquijo, BPI Director and Ayala Corporation Chief Sustainability and Risk Officer; Eugenio Mercado, BPI Head of Enterprise Operations; and Carlo Poblete, BPI Head of Facilities Services and Management.

The EV also harnesses an intelligent fleet management system, with features such as GPS tracking, route optimization, and maintenance alert which can be accessed through the GETPASS App.

The initiative mirrors BPI’s commitment to sustainability and continuous efforts to cultivate and entrench a sustainability mindset within the organization.

In 2023, BPI won 14 ESG-focused awards from foreign and Philippine award-giving bodies, including Finance Asia, Global Finance, The Asset, and Asiamoney. In 2022, the Bank also won 10 sustainability-themed awards.

Blacklist International Stars OhMyV33nus and Wise Share Their Seamless Experience With the OPPO A98 5G — An Ultimate All-Rounder Smartphone

Blacklist International's OhMyV33nus and Wise, collectively known as VeeWise, reveal what makes the OPPO A98 5G an ideal smartphone for Filipino’s every smartphone needs.

OPPO has consistently launched smartphones that suit and address a user’s demand. Whether you’re a young professional who lives an active lifestyle, a student who requires a phone’s assistance for everyday requirements, or maybe an avid TV/movie buff who binge watches for hours on the phone, an all-rounder smartphone that achieves more is a must-have.

The OPPO A98 5G is a suitable smartphone candidate because it has versatile features every user needs and wants. Blacklist International and OPPO Fam members VeeWise shared that the OPPO A98 5G impressed them with how it blends reliability and multifunctional performance in one device. Read on to know their thoughts on their favorite features of the device.

A Powerful Processor for Seamless Gameplay

A reliable, quality processor allows a smartphone to deliver a solid, all-around performance for everyday use. It ensures that the device is capable of smooth multitasking and worry-free gaming sessions.

The OPPO A98 5G is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset that ensures exceptional performance and power efficiency, meaning even the most demanding games run smoothly without lag or hiccups.  “Personally, happy ako to have this OPPO A98 5G because I need a smartphone that has good performance and walang lag lalo na when I am playing mobile games. Buti  malakas yung chipset niya so sure and mataas yung ROM so sure na no lags.,” shares OhMyV33nus. “Everytime we have training or practice, this is the phone we use kasi less yung lag and long battery life kaya uninterrupted yung bawat run lalo pag in-game kami.”

Immersive Display that Brings Games and Visuals to Life

The display enhances the overall smartphone experience because it adds next-level excitement and intensity to the games and apps being used. Wise notes the significance of this feature for mobile gaming, “Kapag naglalaro na kami, nagiging kami yung heroes or avatar na pinipili namin, kaya okay yung visuals ng OPPO A98 5G kasi mas feel namin yung laro. Super clear ng screen at kitang-kita lahat ng visuals kaya nakaka gana mag laro”.

With a 120Hz refresh rate, every frame is rendered with unparalleled smoothness, eliminating motion blur and ensuring you never miss a beat. This means users can enjoy fast social media scrolling, a smooth transition from one application to another, better video streaming quality, etc.

Dynamic Audio to Elevate the Device Audio Performance

Gamers are well-acquainted with how changes in sound effects can transform the atmosphere, ramping up the excitement during gameplay. This significantly alters the thrill of the overall gaming experience. With OPPO’s technologies, the OPPO A98 5G’'s dual stereo speakers provide rich, detailed audio that transports gamers straight into the game.

Another feature that pro gamer Wise loves from the OPPO A98 5G is its ability to amplify sound up to 200%. “Yung Ultra-Volume Mode feature ng OPPO A98 sobrang love ko kasi malakas talaga maka hype yung sound in playing games or kahit watching or streaming lang sa Youtube” Wise shares. Get a total feel when listening to an adventure game's addicting soundtrack or a battle royale's intense sound effects, as the device's immersive audio puts you right in the middle of the action.

Long-lasting Battery for ninterrupted Gaming Sessions

Nothing is more disappointing than stopping a game to charge your phone, especially when you’re really into it. “Lakas makasira ng momentum pag biglang mag notify yung low battery, lalo pag nasa gitna ka ng intense na laro.” Ohmyv33nus agrees. “Buti mahaba battery life ng OPPO A98, so madalang kami mainterrupt sa mga games. Tapos hindi ka pa masaydong mabibitin pag na lowbatt kasi sobrang bilis lang niya mag charge.” Wise added.

Good thing that the OPPO A98 5G contains a massive 5000mAh battery that can power your gaming sessions for hours on end. And when you're ready to take a break, the 67W SUPERVOOC charging technology quickly replenishes your battery so you can get back to the game in no time.

The Jollibee Group is off to a great start this year in 2024 with the opening of the first Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) in the Philippines on January 11, 2024 at Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati City. This milestone is part of Jollibee's event. The group's aggressive growth plans for this year, in line with its vision to become one of the five best restaurants in the world.

“We’re excited to bring the Common Man Coffee Roasters in the country and give the community an elevated cafĂ© experience. Common Man’s consciously sourced coffee and numerous deliciously healthy brunch options contribute to this experience and help fulfill our mission of spreading the joy of eating to everyone. Championing specialty coffee & brunch

Established in 2013, Common Man Coffee Roasters aims to champion specialty coffee and the best all-day brunch and has expanded from Singapore to Malaysia, and now the Philippines. It also roasts and sells coffee beans and operates the Coffee Barista Academy in Singapore and Malaysia, which provides coffee training to baristas and coffee enthusiasts.

In the Philippines, the breadth of the cafĂ©’s menu includes different types of specialty coffee, bannered by the Nitro Honey Oat Latte and Filter Brew. Its brunch is thoughtfully crafted, headlined by the Common Man Full Breakfast that has generous servings of sausage, bacon, portobello mushroom, hash browns, house-made baked chorizo beans, and greens along with artisanal sourdough. The crowd favorite Common Man Beef Brisket Benedict packs an indulging punch of savory in its tender braised beef topped by poached eggs and creamy hollandaise.

The first location in the country, which has a modern, casual, “come as you are” ambiance, also features its own roastery.

"Having a roastery on site for us to showcase the roasting method will not only help the customers understand the coffee process better, but it will also offer a unique dining and sensory experience for them." ~Koon Beng Chua, CEO of the Spa Esprit Group, which operates Common Man Coffee Roasters in Singapore
