Jollibee: Most Valuable Restaurant Brand in ASEAN

The iconic flagship brand of the Jollibee Group, Jollibee, saw a remarkable 51% increase in brand value, reaching USD 2.3 billion. By reaching this milestone, Jollibee was crowned the most valuable restaurant brand in ASEAN and moved up 19 spots to rank 23rd among the most valuable brands in the region across all categories.

This notable expansion is a result of Jollibee's dedication to customer-centricity, product innovation, aggressive international expansion, strategic alliances, and a greater emphasis on sustainability—elements that have elevated the company's brand value and strength to unprecedented levels.

Jollibee is the second-fastest growing restaurant brand globally, surpassing global behemoths, according to a separate listing by Brand Finance that covers restaurant brands worldwide.

Mang Inasal: ASEAN’s Fastest-Growing Brand

Fastest Growing ASEAN Brand. Mang Inasal, the beloved Filipino casual dining brand of the Jollibee Group, has been cited as the fastest growing ASEAN brand in Brand Finance’s ASEAN 500 2024 Report, with an outstanding 201% surge in brand value. Earlier this year, Mang Inasal was also assessed as the strongest restaurant brand in the Philippines.

The popular Filipino casual dining chain Mang Inasal, owned by the Jollibee Group and known for its famous chicken inasal, was named ASEAN's fastest-growing brand in 2024 across all categories. It jumped 136 spots to become the 146th most valuable brand in the region, with a remarkable 201% increase in brand value to USD 374 million. Notably, after its sister brand, Jollibee, it rose to become the second most valuable restaurant brand in ASEAN.

According to Brand Finance's research, Mang Inasal has outstanding "familiarity" and "recommendation" scores, demonstrating its widespread consumer recognition and steadfast loyalty.

Mang Inasal was also named the Philippines' strongest brand by Brand Finance earlier this year.

Chowking: Top 3 Most Valuable ASEAN Restaurant Brand

“As the impact of strategic alignment and shared resources in building consumer loyalty and driving sustained growth, iconic brands like Mang Inasal and Jollibee are growing and excelling within their sector. The collective strength of these brands reflects ASEAN's unique ability to adapt and thrive, with its sector’s progress amplifying the region's overall resilience and forward momentum.” ~Alex Haigh, Managing Director of Brand Finance, Asia Pacific

Chowking, Jollibee Group’s popular brand blending Filipino and Chinese cuisines, demonstrated impressive growth with a 56% increase in brand value, reaching USD 252 million. With a strong Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 75.6 out of 100 and an AA+ brand strength rating, Chowking earned near-perfect marks in familiarity and consideration metrics. It is now recognized as the 22nd most valuable brand in the Philippines and has risen to become the third most valuable restaurant brand in ASEAN.

Jollibee Group Brands Named Among America’s Favorite Restaurant Chains

The Jollibee Group continues to spread Pinoy pride in the US! Newsweek, a premier news magazine and website, together with global data firm Statista, named Jollibee, Chowking, Smashburger, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) as among the best in their selected categories.

More wins for the Jollibee Group, as four of its brands made it to the list of America’s Favorite Restaurant Chains for 2023. Newsweek, a premier news magazine and website, together with global data firm Statista, named Jollibee, Chowking, Smashburger, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) as among the best in their selected categories.

“We are honored that our brands are included in this list of most favorite restaurant chains in the United States. We thank our customers for their continued support, resulting in this citation that inspires us even more in our mission of serving great-tasting food, bringing the joy of eating to everyone.” ~Ernesto Tanmantiong, Jollibee Group President and CEO

The 2023 ranking was determined based on the results of an independent survey among over 4,000 customers and employees of restaurant chains in the United States. The respondents were asked to indicate which restaurant chains would they recommend among three ethnic cuisines and 13 dish categories.

The three ethnic cuisines include Chinese, Italian, and Tex-Mex; while the 13 dish categories consist of BBQ, burgers, chicken, coffee/tea/baked goods, ice cream/frozen yogurt, juice and smoothies, noodles and ramen, pizza, sandwiches, seafood, soup, steak, and Sushi.

Jollibee was cited in the chicken category, Smashburger for burgers, CBTL for tea and coffee, and Chowking for Chinese cuisine category.

According to Statista, all ratings were transformed into a score value and aggregated towards a final score. The survey respondents rated their experience with the restaurant chains using these nine assessment criteria: taste, cleanliness, hygiene and COVID-19 measures, transparency about ingredients, location, dealing with environmental issues, accessibility, service quality, and treatment of employees.

To receive an award, a restaurant chain needed to receive a minimum number of recommendations and an overall score of at least 7 out of 10. In addition, a restaurant chain was required to have at least three locations across different cities within at least two U.S. states.

US-based magazine names Jollibee Chickenjoy as among the best fried chicken in America

Call it simple joys amid the COVID-19 pandemic—the world-famous Chickenjoy has been ranked as among the best fast-food fried chicken by U.S. online magazine Redbookmag.com in celebration of National Fried Chicken Day in America.

In its article titled, The Best Fast-Food Fried Chicken, Ranked, RedBook Magazine hailed the “crispylicious and juicylicious” Chickenjoy as the fourth favorite fried chicken in America, beating its other competitors that include some established fast-food giants in the U.S.
“We couldn’t be happier of this recognition, as it goes to show that our Chickenjoy is truly world-class. We see customers continuing to come in droves to our stores because of their love for Chickenjoy. This is also why Jollibee North America continues to do well and is outperforming the QSR industry with positive systemwide sales growth despite the pandemic. We are grateful to our customers and will always be happy to serve them the best Chickenjoy that they deserve. If you’re skeptical, check out this recent New York Times story heralding the chain’s first Manhattan location earlier this year. ‘The pleasures of Chickenjoy, as it’s called, are immediate: The sheath of skin is as craggy as a thunderhead, crannies, and crunch multiplying.’ Uhm, I’ll have some of that, please! Chickenjoy is served in bone-in pieces buckets, or you can opt for Chicken Dippers, which are the boneless tenders.” ~Rowel Vijandre, Jollibee Foods Corporation President for North America
The publication also mentioned that Jollibee is the Filipino fried chicken chain “that’s about to take over the United States.”

Filipino Pride
This is not the first time that the Jollibee Chickenjoy was recognized as among the besttasting fried chicken. Publications such as Foodbeast, Yahoo Singapore, and South China Morning Post have all touted it as the best fried chicken. Jollibee was also named as among the top international food chains by publications like Thrillist and The Daily Meal. It has likewise earned the praise of the late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, who called the brand the “wackiest, jolliest place on earth.”

Jollibee has 45 stores in the U.S. and will open more branches in Florida, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Texas, Nevada, California, and Hawaii. It also has 10 stores in Canada with plans of expanding to more branches in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec this 2020.
