AirAsia Philippines, opens new path for Filipinos to explore Europe

For Filipino travelers dreaming of Europe, the journey is becoming more connected. AirAsia Philippines is expanding travel opportunities beyond Asia by linking the Philippines to Istanbul via Kuala Lumpur, creating another option for travelers looking to explore Türkiye and destinations across Europe.

The connection takes advantage of AirAsia’s Kuala Lumpur network, allowing guests to fly from the Philippines to Kuala Lumpur and connect onward to Istanbul. This gives Filipino travelers a more seamless way to begin European adventures while using Kuala Lumpur as a key connecting point.

Adding to the connectivity is AirAsia’s codeshare partnership with Pegasus Airlines, Türkiye’s largest low-cost carrier (LCC). The partnership enables guests connecting through Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul to access a growing selection of destinations throughout Europe.

“For many Filipinos traveling abroad is a lifelong goal. And Europe remains the quintessential dream destination. We recognize that high costs and complex visa processes can make European travel feel intimidating. As AirAsia Group expands its vision beyond ASEAN, our commitment remains the same - removing barriers and bringing these dream destinations closer to guests with our Fly-Thru service and partnership with Pegasus.” ~Anna Lu Victoria, AirAsia Philippines President and CEO

Once in Istanbul, Filipino travelers can connect to destinations such as London, Moscow, Ankara, Zurich, and Athens, among others. With these onward options, Southeast Asian travelers have more ways to begin their European journeys through AirAsia’s Kuala Lumpur network.

For Filipinos who have been dreaming of a European adventure, the expanded connectivity offers more opportunities to make those travel plans happen. From discovering historic landmarks and experiencing new cultures to finally checking Europe off the bucket list, the journey now comes with more route possibilities.

AirAsia’s current network includes 12 weekly Manila–Kuala Lumpur flights and three weekly Cebu–Kuala Lumpur flights, providing convenient access to its Kuala Lumpur hub and its growing international connections.

There will also be more flexibility on the Kuala Lumpur–Istanbul leg. By February 2027, AirAsia is set to increase its KUL-SAW service from four to seven times weekly, giving travelers additional options when coordinating their flights to Europe.

Through this expanded connectivity, AirAsia Philippines continues to support more accessible and affordable international travel, helping Filipino travelers venture beyond Asia.
