McDonald's "Ride the Arches" and "Night Classroom" Win Big at PANATA Awards

At the recent PANATA Brand Effectiveness Awards 2024, which were held at the Seda Hotel Bonifacio Global City, McDonald's Philippines emerged victorious, winning multiple Gold Awards for its noteworthy campaigns, "Night Classroom" and “Ride the Arches.”

A prestigious panel of professionals from the media, advertising, and academic domains judged the awards, which were given out by the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA). The 2024 PANATA Brand Effectiveness Awards honored both the industry's collective advancement as well as the successes of individual brands. The award, which is in its fifteenth year, has demonstrated how resilient brands can be in the face of difficult economic conditions by continuing to push the envelope and create new benchmarks for customer engagement.

"Night Classroom," which debuted in 2023 and is still going strong this year, took home four Golds in the categories of disruptive innovation, corporate sustainability and trust, brand effectiveness through customer experience, and efficient use of marketing communication channels (single medium-BTL). Through the initiative, McDonald's party areas were transformed into designated areas for late-night study sessions for both teachers and students, providing a convenient and secure environment for learning.

However, the massive QSR chain also won the Grand PANATA Award for its groundbreaking “Ride the Arches” campaign. This initiative saw McDonald's transform its restaurants into bike-friendly gathering spots with refueling stations, enticing riders to ride and eat along beautiful routes across the nation. “Ride the Arches” was also awarded Bronze in Corporate Sustainability and Brand Trust, Bronze in Customer Experience, Gold in Marketing Communication Channel - Single Medium BTL, and Bronze in Disruptive Innovation.

Barrameda took home the Rookie Brand Builder of the Year title, and McDonald's won Brand Team of the Year for “Ride the Arches.”

“We are truly honored by the recognition we received from this year’s PANATA Awards. Beyond the accolades, we are thankful to our customers and community partners   for embracing and supporting our initiatives. And as McDonald’s continues to grow in the country, our commitment to making real and meaningful impact will also grow.” ~Adi Hernandez, McDonald’s Philippines Assistant Vice President for Corporate Relations and Impact and Vice President of RMHC Philippines

McDonald's Philippines' outstanding marketing skills were amply demonstrated by the PANATA Brand Effectiveness Awards, where multiple other campaigns received gold awards.

Campaigns like "Best Me at McDo,” "Our Best Everrrr Burgers,” "Lovin' All,” and "Kami Naman, Ma” all won Gold awards for their effective use of marketing communication channels, highlighting the brand's ability to connect with its audience through various media. Notably, "Kami Naman, Ma” was specifically recognized for its excellence in the Single Medium-Digital category. "Better Chicken McDo" earned Gold for Brand Effectiveness through Business Growth, showcasing its success in driving measurable results.

These extra victories demonstrated McDonald's dedication to sustainability, innovation, and building deep relationships with its clients via a wide range of powerful campaigns.

McDonald’s Stripes Run Offers Family Fun with Furry Friends, Registration Now Open

McDonald's Philippines recently declared that sign-ups are now being accepted for their yearly family fun run. Since its inception in 2010, the highly anticipated McDonald's Stripes Run has brought thousands of runners—and now their pets—together to wear striped socks, have a good time, and raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines.

This year's McDonald's Stripes Run, which takes place on December 1 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, aims to raise money to support RMHC's construction of more Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers across the nation. These Learning Centers offer early childhood education to children between the ages of two and four in a safe environment while their parents are at work. Currently, the nation is home to 43 Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers.

“We’re expecting over 10,000 participants this year. McDonald’s is about making feel-good moments happen with experiences that bring friends and families together in fun and special ways. More importantly, McDonald’s Stripes Run is a demonstration of our commitment to supporting children’s well-being through RMHC, and its flagship program, Bahay Bulilit. Aside from the races, we have prepared a fun program with a lot of activities, and of course McDonald’s food to enjoy. We invite everyone to join and run with your family, friends, and furry pals for this year’s Stripes Run. It’ll be a great bonding experience, and you’ll also be able to support RMHC in providing more families with better access to early childhood care and development.” ~Adi Hernandez, McDonald’s Philippines Assistant Vice President for Corporate Relations and Impact and Vice President of RMHC Philippines

What’s new with this year’s McDonald’s Stripes Run?

Participants in the McDonald's Stripes Run 2024 will have a choice between 10km, 5km, 3km, and 1km, depending on their experience level or whether they're just looking for a fun way to get together. In the 1km Fur Category, they can even decide to run alongside their furry child. The best part is that every competitor will receive a unique race kit to wear on race day, which includes a finisher's token, a race map, bib, adult and children's socks, breakfast on race day, and a race singlet. A dog bandana for their furry companion will be given to 1k Fur Stripes participants.

The McDonald’s Stripes Run 2024 takes place on December 1, 2024, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Interested participants can register at RaceRoster.com: bit.ly/StripesRun2024.

McDonald’s elevates commitment to quality, safety and cleanliness to welcome back dine-in customers

As the country continues to follow quarantine guidelines and people continue to adapt to new behaviors, McDonald’s Philippines has been taking strides in ensuring the safety of their customers, while prioritizing the health and safety of their employees.

With the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) eyeing resumption of dine-in for more restaurants by June 15, McDonald’s has elevated its standards and measures for people safety, sanitation and cleanliness for its customers and employees, as well as for food safety.
“Quality, service, value and cleanliness have always been integral parts of McDonald's culture. These have guided us throughout the years of providing delicious food and feel good moments for Filipino communities. Now that we welcome everyone back to our stores for dine-in, we make sure to leverage this constant commitment as we elevate and strengthen our existing measures for the uncompromised safety of our people and our customers. It is important for us to ensure the safety and health of our employees so they keep customers safe and continue to deliver quality service to our customers.~Kenneth S. Yang, President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s Philippines

Keeping employees safe so customers stay safe
For McDonald’s, customer satisfaction and safety begins with guaranteeing that their employees’ safety is prioritized. Since the quarantine period, not only has the company raised the standards for food safety, service and cleanliness, McDonald’s has also taken extra steps in supporting their employees’ health and safety.

To ensure that they are fit to work, store crew are required to regularly submit a health declaration form and a fit to work clearance if they experienced any sickness, whether or not related to the virus. Daily health checks are conducted, as well as temperature checks before and after their shift.
