In response to Typhoon Carina's recent flooding, SM Supermalls and SM Foundation Inc. simultaneously carried out Operations Tulong Express to offer emergency aid to impacted communities.

In Caloocan City, relief efforts were underway as 1,000 families were given "kalinga packs" containing rice, instant noodles, canned sardines, and bottled water. Barangay Maypajo, along with Barangays 3 and 4, were the most severely affected areas of the city where SM City Grand Central and SM Center Sangandaan concentrated their outreach efforts.

Volunteers from SM Savemore Malabon and SM Center Sangandaan took a proactive approach by conducting door to door relief pack distribution in Barangay Tanong and Barangay Potrero. |
Additionally, SM Savemore Malabon donated 1,000 relief packs to the nearby city of Caloocan. In Barangay Tañong and Barangay Potrero, volunteers from SM Savemore Malabon and SM Center Sangandaan adopted a proactive stance by distributing relief packs door to door. This program makes sure that people and families who are unable to travel to centralized relief centers get the assistance they need right in their homes by working with local rescue teams.

Conversely, SM City Valenzuela carried out relief operations in designated evacuation centers within Valenzuela City. Pinalagad Elementary School, Malinta National High School, and Malinta Elementary School evacuees received 1,200 relief packs, also known as "kalinga packs."
Operation Tulong Express (OPTE), a corporate social program of the SM Foundation in association with SM Supermalls and SM Markets, includes the Kalinga pack distribution initiative. Its goal is to meet the needs of communities in times of crisis and disaster. Close collaboration with volunteers and staff at SM Supermalls is required for its execution.
