McDonald’s Celebrates National Bike Day with Its First-Ever Tour de McDo in Rizal

Close to 100 bikers and active mobility advocates “rode the Arches” as McDonald’s Philippines organized the first Tour de McDo in Rizal, in celebration of National Bike Day.

Cycling aficionados and active mobility advocates were in for a treat last November 23, when McDonald's Philippines organized the first Tour De McDo in Antipolo City, Rizal, to commemorate National Bike Day.

Close to 100 bikers participated in a fun 25-kilometer ride across the gorgeous hills around Antipolo City as part of McDonald's Green and Good campaign to promote sustainable active transportation.

This leg of the Tour De McDo began and ended at the McDonald's Mambugan location, one of nine Green and Good flagship outlets in the country.  Each Green & Good store incorporates environmentally friendly innovations such as solar panels and solar-powered lampposts, rainwater harvesting tanks, power-saving motion sensors and LED lights, and energy-efficient air-conditioning systems.  As part of its efforts to promote active mobility, each Green and Good flagship store includes outdoor elements like Bike & Dine—bike-friendly stations where riders can rest, securely park their bikes, and get repair kits while enjoying their McDo favorites.

Aside from McDonald’s Mambugan, the eight other Green and Good flagship stores are UN Del Pilar (Manila), Shaw Boulevard Wack-Wack (Mandaluyong), Delos Reyes (Tagaytay), Nuvali (Sta. Rosa, Laguna), Sta. Monica Commonwealth (Quezon City), Ayala Crescendo (Tarlac), Davao Global Township (Davao City), and Il Corso Cebu (Cebu City).

The Tour de McDo Rizal rode bicycles through Antipolo City, showcasing breathtaking views of the city's most famous sites, urban settings, and verdant vegetation.  The map can be used by anyone who couldn't make it to the event to follow the route on their subsequent ride.  through the Strava app (https://www.strava.com/routes/3421788780055546154).

Tour de McDo Rizal was McDonald’s third cycling event this year, following the kickoff ride in Baguio City last April 27 and the celebration of World Bicycle Month in Ayala, Makati Last June 29.

“McDonald’s has made great strides in our efforts to promote sustainable practices and innovations, and we are glad that our customers’ passion for caring for the environment while enjoying an active lifestyle has met its match in Tour De McDo (Ride the Arches). We are committed to growing Ride the Arches into a bigger, wider, and more inclusive movement, as we open more Green and Good stores nationwide and strengthen our advocacy for sustainability, health, and community well-being.” ~Denise Barrameda, McDonald’s Corporate Communications Senior Manager

McDonald's Ride the Arches, which debuted in February 2023, is an award-winning, world-first campaign that encourages cyclists across the country to pedal from one Golden Arch to the next.

Aside from the gorgeous community ride, participants in the Rizal leg were provided to a one-piece supper after the ride.  Golden Chicken Curry with Egg, Rice, and Small Orange Juice, and an exclusive Green and Good T-Shirt.  The celebration also included a unique raffle, with lucky winners receiving McDonald's gift certificates and Be Our Guest cards.

The celebration of National Bicycle Month does not end with the Tour De McDo Rizal.  From October 26 to November 30, between 4:00 AM and 10:20 AM, McDonald's App users can get the special Cyclist Meal—1-pc.  McDonald's offers Golden Chicken Curry with Egg, Rice, and Small Orange Juice for just ₱109 at all outlets countrywide.
