AirAsia Philippines Pioneers Inclusive Cabin Crew Recruitment

AirAsia Philippines is pioneering a game-changing approach by challenging stereotypes and promoting inclusive cabin crew recruiting.

Beginning August 20 to August 29, 2025, every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the World's Best Low Cost airline will welcome cabin crew applicants who are no longer required to wear formal clothes and complete make-up.  Instead, they can dress more affordably, with male applicants wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, and casual rubber shoes and female candidates wearing a white shirt, denim skirt, and heels.

Cabin crew candidates will be immersed in a more realistic work environment during the selection process, with a focus on service and guest satisfaction rather than the traditional runway screening.  They will also now receive a taste of the Allstar culture, allowing each prospect to experience a day in the skies before being employed.

“We are reimagining the way we do our recruitment process to focus more on the essentials---talent, attitude and skills needed to become a successful cabin crew. Awarded for the 8th consecutive time as World’s Best Low-Cost Cabin Crew by Skytrax, not only do we live and breathe the standards of safety, we make sure that the work environment is fun and inclusive. By changing the game, we also wish to take part in the purposeful journeys of cabin crew aspirants who are deserving to live the sky high dream.” ~Suresh Bangah, AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer

Future Allstars must provide an updated CV or résumé, as well as a recent, non-AI-generated photo.  They must be prepared to display their nicest grins and meet the minimal height requirement based on their Body Mass Index (BMI).

While AirAsia encourages college graduates to apply, senior high school grads are also invited to participate.  Fluency in written and spoken English, Filipino, or multilingualism is regarded advantageous.

For a complete overview of the “Allstar Wednesday Castings”, interested candidates may visit AirAsia Job Portal

AirAsia Philippines Now Serving Taipei with 17 Flights a Week

In response to rising travel demand between Manila and Taipei, AirAsia Philippines increased its flight frequency to Taiwan's capital from 14 to 17 times weekly beginning in July.

The move comes after AirAsia Philippines posted a good average load factor of 85% on its Taipei route, indicating strong and continuous guest interest, with Taipei ranking among AirAsia Philippines' top foreign destinations.

From January to June 2025, the airline flew over 70,000 visitors to Taipei, and this figure is projected to rise as visa-free entry for Filipino travelers staying in Taiwan for 14 days is extended until July 31, 2026.

Office launch coincides with Mid-year sale from as low as PhP77 one-way base fare

AirAsia Philippines celebrated a big milestone by officially unveiling its new headquarters in Pasay.

The new headquarters, dubbed “The Red Horizon,” will house approximately 1,500 Filipino Allstars, confirming the airline's long-term commitment to democratizing air travel by providing value-driven air transport in the Philippine market.

Senator Erwin Tulfo, one of the top performers in the recently concluded 2025 midterm elections, attended the opening, along with airport and aviation officials such as Office for Transportation Security Undersecretary Arthur Bisnar, Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Eric Ines, and Civil Aeronautics Board Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla.

Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes together with Deputy Group CEO for Airline Operations Capt. Chester Voo of the AirAsia Aviation Group, AirAsia Philippines President and CEO Suresh Bangah and the Philippine leadership team led the warm welcome among guests in the new office.

"I think the resilience of Philippine AirAsia is something to marvel at. I'm someone who never gives up. I will fight to the end. But it's tough fighting alone. And so it was amazing to see the energy. I will still remember coming to the old office and the greeting I got. The energy of this company is unbelievable. It is true, there is no AirAsia company like this. The great thing about this airline, we've gone from two planes to 255. We've been through COVID. We started with 200,000 passengers, and this year we're carrying 90 million. We're just short of carrying 1 billion people since we started this airline 23 years ago. But we're all the same. We're exactly the same. Everyone has maintained their humility, maintained their hard work, and most important about AirAsia is our passion to be the best.” ~Tony Fernandes, Capital A CEO

In his message, Senator Tulfo lauded AirAsia’s efforts in ensuring safe journeys among the Filipino people.

“From its humble beginnings, AirAsia has become a pioneer in budget air travel—not just connecting destinations, but connecting dreams, families, businesses, and cultures. It brought the skies closer to millions of Filipinos and travelers around Asia by making flying affordable, accessible, and enjoyable. As a public servant, I deeply value how AirAsia plays a role in economic development, tourism, job creation, and nation-building. Your growth is the country’s gain. And rest assured, we will continue to support an environment where enterprises like AirAsia can soar even higher.” ~Senator Erwin Tulfo

The new facility is a Filipino-inspired space that embodies modern principles such as inclusivity, collaboration, and national pride.  Its main function rooms are titled The Philippines, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, representing unity and regional participation.

The headquarters also include specialized prayer rooms to promote spiritual inclusivity, a fully equipped gym to promote health and wellbeing, and People First Stop, a designated location that embodies our dedication to putting people first.  It acts as a hub for support, connection, and care, as well as a safe space for mental health pep talks for individuals who need to take a break.

AirAsia will disrupt global travel as the world's first low-cost narrow-body network carrier, with a groundbreaking agreement for 70 A321XLRs

Photo Caption: Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes and Christian Scherer, CEO Commercial Aircraft, Airbus, in Paris today, alongside several Malaysian Cabinet Ministers.

AirAsia Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Capital A Berhad, has inked a landmark agreement with Airbus worth USD12.25 billion for 50 A321XLRs, with an option for 20 more.  With this arrangement, the airline takes a significant step toward becoming the world's first low-cost narrow-body network carrier, built on its multi-hub strategy.  The aircraft are slated for delivery from 2028 to 2032.

The agreement, witnessed by Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was signed today in Paris by Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A, and Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

“We pioneered low-cost travel in Asia – now, we are taking it to the next level. AirAsia is on a transformative journey to become the world’s first low-cost network carrier. This is about exponential growth, connecting geographies beyond Asean, and making flying even more democratic. We gave people in Asean the opportunity to explore Asia – now we want the world to see Asean, and Asean to see the world. The A321XLR and A321LR are the game-changers enabling this vision, and we are proud to lead the charge in making our world smaller. We can’t wait to paint the skies even wider in red.” ~Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A and Advisor & Steward of AirAsia Group

The next-generation A321XLRs will join AirAsia's all-Airbus fleet of A320 Family and A330 aircraft, bolstering the airline's long-term strategy of providing unrivaled connectivity across Asia and beyond while maintaining a low-cost model through improved route economics, increased aircraft utilisation, and fleet efficiency.  AirAsia Group wants to carry 150 million passengers per year by 2030, for a total of 1.5 billion passengers since its founding.

“We are pleased to confirm this agreement, as AirAsia Group begins its next development chapter. Having resumed its growth trajectory, which we salute and support, the airline is creating solid fleet efficiencies, allowing global network expansion. The A321XLR unlocks new opportunities for AirAsia to launch non-stop flights linking primary and secondary cities all around the globe.” ~Christian Scherer, CEO Commercial Aircraft at Airbus

This change relies heavily on the new fleet.  AirAsia's multi-aircraft approach allows the airline to match capacity with demand, cut fuel usage, and support a long-term, cost-effective growth model in a highly competitive global market.  The A321XLR also uses up to 20% less fuel per seat than the Airbus A321neo, greatly boosting emissions performance and operating efficiency.

With the ongoing repair of San Juanico Bridge, our stakeholders can always count on us to consistently provide reasonably low fares, allowing everyone to experience the airline's continued legacy as the global gold standard in low-cost travel. ~Suresh Bangah, AirAsia Philippines President and CEO

And we want to thank AirAsia, sabi ko nga two way ito eh, it is our intent to make ourselves visible to tourist so that there will be an increased flights later by AirAsia. We may not have the ideal tourist destinations that we have right now, but by the time we finish our plans, ang tanong ko parati, which airline we do actually partner with when we're actually ready? And right now, I will tell you that it is only AirAsia, I consider a partner.” ~Jericho Petilla, Leyte Governor

Book now until July 3, 2025, and #SeeyouLeyte for travels between July 2, 2025, and March 31, 2026.

It allowed us to ferry people out of Tacloban so they can also find work in Manila and feed their families while rebuilding is underway.” ~Anne Petilla, Leyte Tourism Consultant

During the assault of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), AirAsia was one of the first commercial airlines to respond to individuals affected by the disaster.  It provided free 250,000 seats for victims and their loved ones looking for missing family members.  AirAsia Foundation raised about one hundred million pesos, which was utilized to build homes in Tacloban.
