Pru Life UK gathered high-net-worth individuals for its Pru Life UK Private Reserve Series: Value. Distilled is an exclusive forum dedicated to creating wealth through discipline, protection, and resilience in volatile markets.

The event combined market insight with a curated whisky tasting experience, reflecting the evening's main message: long-term value is built over time through patience, balance, and expert guidance.

Rex Mendoza, a finance and investment leader, delivered the forum's keynote address, discussing how investors can navigate global uncertainty, identify opportunities, and prioritize protection in their wealth strategy.

Mendoza said modern wealth planning is no longer just about growth. It is about building portfolios that can withstand volatility, protect families, and support long-term goals.

Customers also joined an interactive discussion on portfolio positioning, risk management, legacy planning and strategic financial decision-making in shifting market conditions.

Pru Life UK also showcased a suite of premium financial solutions for high-net-worth customers, including PRUWealth 10, an endowment plan with guaranteed payouts and protection; PRUMillion Protect, a high-protection investment-linked plan; and the PRULink Strategic Income Fund, a globally diversified multi-asset fund.

The evening concluded with a whisky tasting session led by Kris Ong, who made a connection between whisky maturation and wealth creation. Customers were reminded of the importance of patience, craftsmanship, and long-term thinking.

Pru Life UK reinforced its role as a long-term partner for customers seeking to preserve, grow, and pass on wealth, drawing on 30 years of experience in the Philippines and Prudential's 178-year global heritage.

(From left to right) Princess Balingit, Pru Life UK Chief Investment Officer; Francis Ortega, Pru Life UK Financial Consultant; Sanjay Chakrabarty, Pru Life UK President and Chief Executive Officer; Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Frederick GoBeth Villahermosa, Pru Life UK Chief Actuary; DOF Assistant Secretary Kristine Joy Diaz-Teston; and Atty. Calvin Kohchet-Chua, Pru Life UK Chief Legal and Government Relations Officer

With more Filipino families looking for stronger financial security in an ever-changing economic situation, Pru Life UK met with the Department of Finance (DOF) to advance policy debates that support a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable life insurance sector.

During the courtesy meeting with DOF Secretary Frederick Go and Assistant Secretary Kristine Joy Diaz-Teston, Pru Life UK executives, led by President and CEO Sanjay Chakrabarty, discussed targeted regulatory reforms that can strengthen the industry while improving access and customer experience for Filipinos.

The debate reflects common goals for financial inclusion and economic resilience. It emphasizes Pru Life UK's role as a dedicated public-private partnership in advancing national development goals and ensuring long-term household stability.

During the meeting, key policy areas discussed included:
  • Making it easier for banks to offer life insurance and related products, improving customer experience and widening access
  • Reviewing life insurance tax rules to help keep protection affordable and support long-term financial security
  • Updating investment rules under the Insurance Code to strengthen industry stability and support sustainable long-term returns

These reforms have the potential to widen insurance coverage, increase consumer protection, and enable the life insurance sector to make a more meaningful contribution to inclusive economic growth, thereby benefiting families, communities, and national development.

“Our engagement with the Department of Finance reflects our shared goal of making long-term financial protection more accessible to more Filipinos, while ensuring the life insurance sector remains strong, stable, and sustainable. We look forward to continued collaboration and policy dialogue that supports responsible growth, strengthens consumer outcomes, and advances a more resilient and inclusive insurance landscape for the Philippines.” ~Sanjay Chakrabarty, President and Chief Executive Officer

Pru Life UK remains dedicated to working with the government and regulators to achieve reforms that Filipinos can rely on to improve experience, strengthen industry foundations, and support larger initiatives to build a more financially secure and resilient Philippines.

Turning risks into opportunities: Pru Life UK inspires a new generation of legacy builders among Filipino families

Designed as an evening of insightful discussion and curated wine tasting, Legacy Uncorked brought together an intimate circle of the country’s most respected business leaders, wealth advisors, and high-net-worth families in a sophisticated setting at the Grand Hyatt. In photo: (Left-right) Rozanne Magararu, Pru Life UK Chief Customer & Marketing Officer; Sanjay Chakrabarty, Pru Life UK President and Chief Executive Officer; Michael Ferrer, ATRAM Group Chief Executive Officer; Rex Mendoza, Rampver Financials Chairman and Chief Executive Officer; Princess Charm Balingit, Pru Life UK Chief Investment Officer; and Julien Fey, Pru Life UK Chief Strategy Officer.

With family-owned businesses and property values on the rise in the Philippines, an increasing number of Filipino families confront a silent financial risk: wealth transfer delays and estate settlement challenges, which can result in frozen assets, court conflicts, and forced liquidation.

According to Rex Mendoza, Chairman and CEO of Rampver Financials, during Pru Life UK's exclusive Legacy Uncorked event at the Grand Hyatt Manila, many families accumulate money but fail to secure it for future generations.  Estate planning is more than just a financial burden; it is a duty to one's heirs and a pledge to continuation.

To address this growing gap, Pru Life UK launched Legacy Uncorked, a platform for intergenerational asset preservation and ethical succession planning.  The event, hosted by Mendoza, one of the country's top advocates in financial stewardship and legacy building, drew high-net-worth families, company owners, and wealth advisors to explore estate planning techniques.

Mendoza provided a compelling message about why Filipino families should plan not only for wealth accumulation, but also for wealth transfer and continuity.  He said that legacy is more than simply what one leaves behind; it is also about preparing others to carry it on.

Citing recent geopolitical and economic shocks, he emphasized that unpredictability has become an integral feature of financial strategy.  He went on to say that unpredictability has become a constant, with health crises, market shocks, and policy changes.  Families that do not develop emergency liquidity and succession plans subject their successors to undue financial risk.

He also emphasized that legacy failure is typically caused by a lack of generational preparation rather than a financial loss.  He explained that heirs fail not because they lack inheritance, but because they lack leadership.  Wealth should be transferred with judgment, purpose, and financial knowledge.  Mendoza also underlined the need of disciplined investment methods for generational wealth, stressing that asset diversification, risk management, and sustainability must lead long-term decisions.

Legacy Planning

Sanjay Chakrabarty, President and CEO of Pru Life UK, emphasized the need of legacy planning in the Philippine environment, where estate settlement continues to be a significant obstacle to maintaining family wealth.

According to him, many families are compelled to sell long-held assets, companies, or land in order to pay off estate liabilities.  Every family that desires continuity, stability, and dignity in the transfer of their assets should consider estate planning; it is not just for the wealthy.

PRUWealth 10, Pru Life UK's flagship single-pay life insurance product intended to assist with estate planning, was unveiled at the event.  Clients can create estate liquidity, safeguard assets from forced sales, and guarantee a smooth inheritance transfer with this solution.

PRUWealth 10 gives fast funding when households need it the most.  It prevents the loss of family legacy as a result of emergency property sales or loan dependency.  We continue to see increased interest from discriminating families and business leaders who understand the need of structured protection.

Chakrabarty also stated that structured wealth transition is a growing financial priority in the country.  He stated that debates about legacy are no longer taboo.  Today's leaders seek to protect both their careers and their family relationships.  Pru Life UK is here to help you achieve your goals with organized, future-ready financial strategies.

Legacy Uncorked also included a tailored wine appreciation trip by Chie Gatchalian, co-founder of The Sip Studio, which represented how legacies are consciously constructed and preserved with care, echoing the event's central message: heritage must be protected, not left to chance.

The event was part of Pru Life UK's continued commitment to financial education and estate planning advocacy in the Philippines, which provided families with guidance, solutions, and professional advice to protect multigenerational wealth.

Creating a financially literate future together: Cha-Ching expands financial literacy education across NCR, fully integrates into Bicol's DepEd curriculum

Pru Life UK and Prudence Foundation, in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Junior Achievement (JA) Philippines, have expanded the Cha-Ching programme throughout the National Capital Region (NCR) and fully integrated it into the Bicol Region (Region V) DepEd curriculum, reaffirming their commitment to promoting financial literacy among Filipino youth.

Bicol Region (Region V) has become the first region in the Philippines to institutionalize and fully incorporate Cha-Ching into the Department of instruction's school curriculum, marking a significant step forward in the extension of financial literacy instruction through Cha-Ching.  The initiative is also expanding in the National Capital Region.  Over 1.5 million children in the Philippines have been taught Cha-Ching, and more than 47,000 teachers have been educated and retrained.

On June 25, over 100 attendees gathered at the Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City to celebrate these milestones, strengthen partnerships, and highlight the program's long-term vision at an event titled "Cha-Ching: Creating a Financially Literate Future Together," which included representatives from Pru Life UK, Prudence Foundation, program partners, and the Insurance Commission of the Philippines.

Pru Life UK's Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer, Paul Mandal, emphasized the company's strong commitment to financial education, as well as its collaboration with DepEd, in delivering long-term impact and fostering resilience.

“When we teach children the value of money early on, we are empowering a generation to make smarter choices and build a financially secure future.” ~Paul Mandal, Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer of Pru Life UK

Cha-Ching is an award-winning global financial literacy programme developed by Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc, Pru Life UK's parent company. It equips the next generation with the financial knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions that lead to financial well-being and a secure future.  In conjunction with JA Asia Pacific, a school curriculum program for children aged seven to twelve was created to impart money-savvy values, knowledge, and behavior.  Over 3 million students have been taught the curriculum in 16 markets in Asia and Africa, with over 87,000 instructors trained to date.

At the occasion, a panel discussion on best practices in financial education was held to assist ongoing efforts to advance financial literacy in the Philippines.  Dr. Gilbert T. Sadsad, Regional Director of DepEd Region V; Dr. Miguel Mac Aposin, Assistant Regional Director, DepEd Region VI; and Mr. Jed Velarde, President of the JA Philippines Board of Trustees, were on the panel.

To finish the session, the Prudence Foundation offered a presentation on the future of the Cha-Ching programme and the necessity of partnership in addressing the worldwide financial literacy gap.

Through these collaborations, Cha-Ching continues to empower the next generation and inspire change that starts in the classroom and spreads to homes and communities.
