Novo Nordisk Highlights 25 Years of Obesity Research, launches ‘Truth About Weight’ Campaign in the Philippines



According to a recent research by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), four out of every ten Filipino adults are obese.  This trend indicates significant shifts in health patterns.  Similarly, children and adolescents confront challenges as lifestyle changes, greater consumption of processed foods, and decreased physical activity lead to future health concerns.  Obesity is often overshadowed by other health issues, despite the fact that it is a major cause of a variety of significant chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer.





Recognizing the importance of this public health issue, Novo Nordisk is pleased to start its 'Truth About Weight' campaign in the Philippines - a global program leading the fight against obesity through awareness, education, and advocacy. With 25 years of committed research in obesity treatment worldwide and a dedication to improve patient outcomes, Novo Nordisk strives to shift the obesity narrative from one of stigma to one of support and understanding.

The Truth About Weight campaign's central message is that obesity is a chronic, complicated disease influenced by genetics, environmental conditions, hormones, and psychological factors, not simply poor lifestyle choices.

The Truth About Weight initiative aims to address misinformation and stigma around obesity.  The Truth About Weight website is at the heart of this endeavor, serving as a comprehensive resource hub.  It provides scientific insights into the nature of weight and obesity, a free weight health risk assessment, educational tools, inspiring tales to foster understanding, and resources to assist people seek professional treatment.
