UP SAMASKOM Presents Live A.I.D.S. 35: "A Laugh Story" as its Golden Presentation

Following last year's exhilarating production of Live A.I.D.S. 34: Hysterical Revisionism, UP SAMASKOM returns with Live A.I.D.S. 35: A Laugh Story from May 9 to 11, 2025 at the Ignacio B. Jimenez (IBG) - KAL Theater in UP Diliman.

The program is the 35th and final installment of the iconic comic-musical variety show, which has amused generations of students and comedy variety show fans since the 1970s.  The longest-running comedic musical variety show is presented annually by the leading university organization UP SAMASKOM.  Live A.I.D.S. teases and provokes at the same time with positive vibes, comedy, and sharp social commentary.

Live A.I.D.S. 35: A Laugh Story keeps loyal to the show's signature sharp wit and engaging humor.  The program presents amusing anecdotes with cutting sarcasm while entertaining the audience with humor, music, production numbers, and social commentary.  It carefully weaves satire into Philippine society while also passing by pop culture and sociopolitical topics, as well as playfully addressing viral trends and current events. 

More than just a popular comic variety program, Live A.I.D.S. is best known as a platform for growth, experience, and connection, nurturing budding performers, writers, creatives, and talents both on and off stage.  Live A.I.D.S. has paved the way for the careers of its alumni, who include Kuya Kim Atienza, RS Francisco, Raymond Lauchengco, Wency Cornejo, Ate Glow, Michelle O' Bombshell, Tuesday Vargas, Mrs. Tan, and Jervi Wrightson (KaladKaren), among others.

LIVE A.I.D.S. has also highlighted talent behind the scenes, including ABS-CBN's head of TV Production, Star Magic CEO and Pinoy Big Brother Head Director Laurenti (Loren) Dyogi, and ABS-CBN Global Head of Creative Services, Ned Legaspi.

The Longest-Running Campus Comedy Variety Show in the Philippines is Back!

Resurrected after a five-year hiatus due to pandemic restrictions, the longest-running comedy variety show on the UP Diliman campus is back!

Acts, Improvisations, Dances, and Songs, or Live A.I.D.S. (Ang Istoryang Dinebelop ng SAMASKOM), is an annual musical-comedy series presented by the talented student organization UP SAMASKOM. It is in its 34th year and will take place from July 5 to 7 at the Ignacio B. Jimenez - KAL Theater in UP.

Titled LIVE A.I.D.S.: HYSTERICAL REVISIONISM: “Tatlumpu’t Apat na Taon ng Makasaysayang Tawanan, Sayawan at Kimmy-nism” the program will once more offer a witty commentary on Philippine society, a comic touch to viral content, and a socio-political perspective on pop culture. It promises to make audiences laugh and enjoy themselves like never before, interspersed with dances and spectacular production numbers.

Venice Atienza, a former student at U.P. SAMASKOM and has been working on the show's production and creative teams for a number of years. 

Alumni from SAMASKOM dominate the regional entertainment scene, becoming well-known in front of or behind the camera. Kuya Kim Atienza, Giselle Sanchez, RS Francisco, Raymond Lauchengco, Wency Cornejo, Ate Glow, Michelle O'Bombshell, Tuesday Vargas, Mrs. Tan, and KaladKaren are just a few of the people whose careers have been impacted by liveAIDS. 

SAMASKOM alumni include Ned Legaspi, the global head of creative services at ABS-CBN, and Laurenti (Loren) Dyogi, the head of TV production and head director of Pinoy Big Brother at Star Magic Chief.
