Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines crowns a new champion, with Manila's Izzy Johnson qualifying for the world finals in Zurich

Against a backdrop of loud cheers, flashing lights, and constant rhythm, Manila's Izzy Johnson won the Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines National Finals, defeating the country's most spectacular street dancers in a crowd-voted duel. With every rhythm, reaction, and energy change, Izzy proved to be the last dancer standing in Bridgetowne in Pasig, earning the championship and the privilege to represent the Philippines on the global stage in Zurich, Switzerland.

“I felt that all my pressure was replaced by excitement. The crowd became my fuel. When I saw they were happy with my dancing, I felt like I had already won. Because of the dance community, I was able to find my own style. I used to only do choreographed dances before. But freestyle is different. I used to freestyle on my own, but thanks to the dance community, I was able to learn more. I also absorbed some of their maturity—that when it comes to dance, you don't have to be too technical. You just have to be true to your dance. I guess one of the dance battle tactics that helped me was learning to connect with the crowd through my movements. Since this is Red Bull Dance Your Style, it was so important that they understood my movements. Our artistry must touch their hearts. To represent the Philippines at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals is to represent the people. But first of all, it starts with me, I’m a Filipino, so I represent myself first. And I represent every Pinoy that helped me get to this moment.” ~Izzy Johnson, Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines 2026 Champion

Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines competitors Nemesis from Cebu and Doodsieroll from Davao joined Izzy in setting the heated tone for the evening. The National Finals showcased the depth and diversity of Philippine street dancing, combining international talent, local energy, and a passion for the art form.

A Night Where the Crowd Took Control

The National Finals started off quickly. With no judges on the panel, every choice was left to the audience, transforming the dance floor into a space where connection with the crowd was as important as execution.

Each battle unfolded like a live dialog between the DJ, the dancer, and the audience, with dancers entering each battle not knowing which tune would play next. As tracks switched unexpectedly, athletes were compelled to switch techniques, flip the energy, and respond precisely under pressure. The audience responded in real time with applause and excitement, fueling momentum and selecting who advanced and who quit the competition.

As the bouts progressed, the link between dancer and audience became clearer, influencing the overall flow of the event. It produced an energy loop that transformed every moment into something larger, louder, and more unpredictable.

A Champion Carrying a Nation’s Rhythm

By the final round, one dancer had constantly held the audience's attention. Izzy utilized musicality, control, and presence to generate standout performances in several games. His ability to adapt to new tracks while preserving a strong sense of self ultimately clinched the victory. Izzy's performance provided the audience with a familiar reflection of her native roots, cultural inspirations, and the everyday movement that distinguishes Filipino street dance.

Izzy opened out about his influences and appreciated the local Filipino dance culture. Throughout the night, Izzy displayed an ability to control the music. He mastered the ability of combining groove, unrivaled energy, and spontaneity to create rounds that thrilled the crowd.

A Battle Map Across the Philippines

The National Finals were more than just a tournament; they were like a moving cultural map. It demonstrated how distinct styles from various regions in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao continue to create the country's street dancing scene.

Cebu's Nemesis burst onto the scene with explosive, grounded power, entrenched in strength, grit, and raw passion. Each strike was delivered with purpose, capturing the audience's attention from the opening beat.

From Mindanao, Davao's Doodsieroll responded with seamless musicality. He was able to blend rhythm and movement into seamless combinations with control and timing, resulting in moments that felt effortless yet highly planned, bringing the audience into each transition.

Izzy represented the capital with a strong, adventurous edge. He experimented with textures, tempo, and unexpected freestyle choices, challenging traditions and making each round unpredictable.

Regardless of their peculiarities, each dancer added to a larger narrative. Their styles did not collide; rather, they converged. The struggle evolved into a vibrant showcase of Filipino ingenuity, with regional characteristics standing out while working toward a common goal: promoting the Philippines on a global scale.

From the Philippines to the World Stage

With the national title secured, Izzy turns his attention to the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals, where champions from over 54 countries will compete in a global collision of sound, style, and identity.

It's a stage where no two dancers move in the same way, and cultural expression takes center stage. For Izzy Johnson, it's an opportunity to channel the energy of a whole country into the global arena.

While street dancers from across the country demonstrated their various styles and approaches to dance, the Philippines appeared on the Red Bull Dance Your Style stage as a cohesive force, forged from disparate islands that now move as one. As Izzy prepares to enter the global arena, one thing is certain: the Philippines is bringing a flair and intensity that the world cannot ignore.

The passion and success of Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines were made possible by the contributions of official event partners Army Navy, Hertz, Mophie, and Posh, who fueled the local street dance community and boosted this year's spectacular competition.

“I’m so happy and it’s all worth it. Being a full-time dancer, (this is) a big feat for me. Despite the fierce competition on the battle stage, all the love from my fellow competitors is really one of the most memorable things to me about the competition.” ~Jigoro

Jigoro also cites the support from his friends and the support from his community for his drive during the competition. For Jigoro, the highlight of his Red Bull Dance Your Style experience is the local dance community’s support for each other.

This victory also qualifies Jigoro for the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final, where they will fight for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent the Philippines at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final in Los Angeles, USA.  Jigoro and EBOY, the runners-up in the Manila Qualifier, will join SUJI and SPADECKX from the Davao Qualifier as finalists in the National Final.

“It’s been a long time coming. I’ve really been wanting to come to the Philippines, and a lot of dancers from here have been messaging me to ask when I will come here. Finally, I’m in the Philippines and I’m really happy to be here. Immediately, everybody has given us such a warm welcome and shown us a lot of love. I’m from Vietnam, and I’m happy to get a chance to spotlight great dancers from Southeast Asia and share the stage with them. Just keep going. Keep learning. Everybody has had (their share of) difficulties, but for me what’s important is that when we love it, we do it. Dream it. Wish it. And, do it. The final battle was really fire. And with everybody vibing here, with good music, it really was the perfect night. ~MT Pop

For MT Pop, the chance to encounter dancers in Southeast Asia is the most important thing about the Red Bull Dance Your Style Asia Tour.

The global dancers were also in attendance during the Red Bull Dance Your Style Manila Qualifier. MT Pop’s rise from a local street dancer in Vietnam to a global champion underscores how Red Bull Dance Your Style opens doors for dancers. Red Bull Dance Your Style highlights freestyle dance as a universal art expression that can connect communities from all over the world.

Another epic dance battle took place at the Red Bull Dance Your Style Manila Qualifiers, which were held on July 27 at Octopus in Makati. The intense competition featured Luzon's top dancers. Each city hosted intense competitions, with dancers from all over the country pushing their limits and captivating audiences with their distinct styles and high-energy performances. Each of them competed for a spot in the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Finals.

Manila experienced extraordinarily high levels of competition. With his flawless moves and unquestionable charisma, Klockwise (Kenneth Martinez) won the competition and gave an incredible performance. Considering his experience with Red Bull Dance Your Style.

“I’ve only (followed) Red Bull Dance Your Style via social media, then when it came to the Philippines, I went over to watch it live (and) the (following) year as well. When I was in the audience, I had a vision of myself performing on stage. That’s when I made it my goal that one day I would dance, perform, and show my skills. It’s super unexpected. I just wanted to enjoy, to show what I enjoy doing. I’ll prepare highlights and ground moves, create new patterns of my locking, and of course, listen to new music. ~Klockwise (Kenneth Martinez)

He revealed that he listened to a lot of music and performed freestyle to it in order to get ready for the qualifiers. He added that in the run-up to the National Finals, he would continue much as before.

Kid Magnus (Flourence Lavesores) who won first runner up, shared that the event felt less like a competition.

“I really just enjoyed it. The crowd was so energetic and happy, which made me feel that I was just dancing, enjoying the music, dancing to the beat. I was a bit pressured because (my fellow) competitors (are) well known, but all of them were very nice.” ~Kid Magnus (Flourence Lavesores)

Tatai, a Japanese dancer who made it to the top 4, expressed her joy and enthusiasm at being able to join the competition.

“It’s about letting your mind go crazy, expressing your love for dance, and enjoying music.I want to practice more, perfect my favorite dance, and give it my all on the next stage.” ~Tatai, a Japanese dancer

Klockwise, Kid Magnus, Tatai, and Q have also qualified for the National Finals, joining R3DMAN (Edrian Alcaria) and MSTR PIECE (Regie Harris Lavestre), the Davao qualifier's winner and first runner-up, respectively. The finalists include Nemesis (Sam Rivera) and Khlai (Khlai Vargaso Batula), the winner and first runner-up of the Cebu qualifier, bringing the total to eight from the qualifiers. The remaining National Finals slots will be filled by wildcard picks.

Red Bull Dance Your Style dance consultants, Vince Mendoza and Lema Diaz of the Philippine All-Stars, expressed their excitement for the upcoming National Finals especially after seeing the talents from the qualifiers in Manila, Cebu, and Davao.

“There were so many unforgettable moments. You could tell that everybody brought their A-game and did not hold back. Everybody really wanted to have the top spot to participate in the National Finals. All you have to do is be yourself, show everybody what you’ve got. What makes you different from the rest is your own experience, your own flavor, where you come from. Carry that with you and let the crowd decide who moves on to the next (stage). ~Lema Diaz of the Philippine All-Stars

On what he looks forward to seeing in the National finals. Vince Mendoza offered as his advice for dancers as they gear up for the National Finals.

“I want to see more identity, creativity, performance, and maturity of the dancers, understanding the message of the music and the crowd. That’s really hard to achieve as a dancer, but for the young generation, they’re really fast at learning and adapting. Listen to new music, different styles, and different genres. Enjoy the music; don't force yourself to train. It’s not about winning or losing; it’s about transformation. Accept your identity, accept your uniqueness, and showcase that uniqueness. Don’t be afraid and believe in yourself.” ~Vince Mendoza  of the Philippine All-Stars

Red Bull Dance Your Style Showcases Cebu’s Dance Scene in Provincial Qualifiers

On July 13, at APEX Super Club, Cebu came alive with rhythm and energy for the Red Bull Dancing Your Style Qualifiers. The best dancers in Cebu competed head-to-head for a spot in the next National Finals, showcasing their amazing talents and skills.

Red Bull Dance Your Style is a worldwide one-on-one street dance competition that celebrates and fosters the uniqueness and inventiveness of dancers from all over the world. Dancers are forced to perform freestyle routines to unexpected music and display their incredible improvisational abilities. The distinctive battle format of the global competition, in which the audience selects the competitors who advance to the next round, makes it stand out.

There was intense competition, with sixteen dancers displaying an amazing variety of dance forms. The audience was left in complete amazement by the incredible performances given by the Cebu qualifier finalists. The Top 4 were JPY (Jeffrey Casas Toledo), Khlai (Khlai Vargaso Batula), Nemesis (Sam Rivera), and Baby Titan (Shihan Maui Ricablanca). Nemesis emerged victorious following a tense set of combat rounds. She won first place and a trip to the National Finals thanks to her faultless performances throughout the competition.

“(It) feels great. Last year, I only won second place so this serves as my redemption. Underground. This year, there are a lot of dancers from outside Cebu; some are my friends and some I just met during the competition. I think one of the highlights for this year is meeting new friends and competitors. Since the competition for the National Finals is already filtered from Baguio, Davao, and Manila, I need to level up my training. Nemesis had really unpredictable moves and undeniable skills. ~Nemesis (Sam Rivera)

Nemesis shared that what she found to be one of the highlights for this year’s competition was getting to compete with fellow members of her dance crew.

First runner up Khlai, who also secured her spot in the National Finals, expressed her joy for placing in the competition.

“It feels so surreal, I don’t even know where to begin. Today is the birthday of my grandfather who passed away. The performance that I did was dedicated to my grandfather and grandparents. I don’t really prepare that long or have a specific training, but I’ll try to do cardio for my stamina so that I can keep up with the dancers. ~Khlai, First runner up

Khlai shared that her motivation to join the competition, despite her long-term knee injury, was her late grandfather.

In preparation for the National Finals, Khlai said she wanted to work on her stamina stating,

Philippine All-Stars legends and dance consultants Lema Diaz and Vince Mendoza were seen at the event.

“All I can say is that (the competition) was full of inspiration and new faces. Compared to last year, we multiplied by a lot. A lot of dancers supported Red Bull Dance Your Style and the skills really leveled up from last year. It’s going to be more crazy. We’re excited for the Manila qualifiers. There’s a lot of dancers and new faces. I’m excited that I can witness that moment. “We always tell them to always have fun no matter what. Win or lose, it’s all about the transformation. If you win, there’s transformation. If you lose, there’s transformation. It’s all about giving love to the community, to the next generation, to the OGs, to our past, present, and future.” ~Vince Mendoza, Philippine All-Stars legends and dance consultant
