 Fight 8
Marat Gafurov vs Narantungalag Jadambaa

In the main event, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of Baguio City, Philippines completes his journey through ONE Championship’s lightweight ranks by stopping Asian MMA legend Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki by technical knockout within three rounds to clinch the ONE Lightweight World Championship. Aoki dominated the first round with his Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but Folayang came alive in the second round as he opened up his striking, showcasing his world-class wushu talent. In the third round, Folayang rocked Aoki against the cage fence and finished him off with ground-and-pound.

In the co-main event of the evening, reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov of Russia successfully defended his title against challenger and top contender Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa of Mongolia. It was the champion’s second title defense, after lifting the belt from Jadambaa a year ago. After a brief exchange of strikes, action quickly went to the mat when Jadambaa missed a kick and fell to the canvas. Gafurov followed the Mongolian down and that’s where he worked on the submission. Jadambaa was able to defend for a few moments, but once Gafurov re-established himself, the choke came effortlessly.

Lightweight prospect Amir Khan of Singapore overcame a spirited effort from former Pan Asia BJJ Champion Vaughn “The Spawn” Donayre of the Philippines to win by submission in the third round. After spending the first half of the bout tagging each other with various striking combinations, the two fighters decided to take things to the mat. On the ground, Khan showcased his technical brilliance, threatening Donayre with multiple choke attempts while dominating the grappling exchanges. Although Donayre had his moments, particularly catching Khan in a very deep kimura attempt, the younger fighter survived to win by rear naked choke in the third round.

8-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Michelle Nicolini of Evolve MMA made a successful ONE Championship debut, finishing former Egyptian wrestling champion Mona Samir in one round via submission. Samir tried her best to keep from getting taken down, but Nicolini’s high-level grappling skills made that very difficult. Once on the mat, Nicolini worked her magic and effortlessly secured the choke.

Lightweight veterans Roger “El Matador” Huerta of the United States and Adrian “The Hunter” Pang of Brisbane, Australia went toe-to-toe in an action-packed lightweight contest. The first round saw Huerta own the edge in accuracy and speed, plastering Pang with pinpoint punch combinations while going to work on the Australian’s legs. Pang countered with his straight right hand, which landed with tremendous force. While Huerta landed the cleaner blows, it was clear Pang owned the edge in power and sheer brute strength. Both fighters turned in great performances, but it was Huerta who did just enough to notch the hard-fought victory via split decision.

Former ONE Lightweight World Champion Kotetsu Boku scored a technical knockout victory over Russia’s Timofey Nastyukhin in a highly-anticipated featherweight contest. Nastyukhin blasted Boku with power shots in the first couple of minutes as Boku tried his best to keep his distance. After moments of intense action however, Boku checked a kick and Nastyukhin hurt his leg, falling to the canvas writhing in pain but somehow surviving the round. Nastyukhin then failed to answer the call for the second round and Boku was awarded the TKO.

Singaporean female mixed martial artist Tiffany “Soul Crusher” Teo made her ONE Championship promotional debut with a dominant performance to cheers from fans in attendance. Teo owned the advantage in striking exchanges but surprised everyone with her high-level grappling game, gaining full mount on multiple occasions while pounding away at Abbas who tried her best to defend. In the second round, Teo took Abbas’ back once more and converted on a rear naked choke, forcing her Egyptian opponent to tap out.

Previously unbeaten Singaporean featherweight prospect Benedict Ang experienced the first loss of his career as he went to battle against Pakistani mixed martial artist Ahmed Mujtaba. Both fighters began the bout firing away at the center of the cage as they traded strikes to the roar of crowd. Mujtaba scored points for a near-finish towards the end of round two, taking Ang’s back and working on a rear naked choke. In round three, Mujtaba continued to work towards getting Ang to the ground, scoring on a few more takedowns to earn the unanimous decision victory.

Singaporean fighter Niko Soe made his ONE Championship debut against Malaysian Muhamad Haidar to kick off ONE: DEFENDING HONOR. Both fighters started out aggressively, but it was Soe who showed a more capable set of grappling skills, winning by armbar in the first round to the roar of his hometown crowd.

BigBenta MARKETPLACE

Let me Introduce to everyone what BigBenta is all about.

BigBenta is an Internet software and platform provider whose belief in the Philippines continued economic growth, lies on the growth and success of the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSME) and skilled individuals nationwide. Through its various online services and application targeting the mass market, BigBenta is doing its share it to build the competitiveness of the MSMEs and provide additional income to the Filipino skilled workers. BigBenta Marketplace houses its various platform and services for the MSMEs, Service Providers and Customers under one site. It’s a Filipino company made for the Filipinos.

There is no question as to the growth prospect or the inevitable adoption of e-commerce in the Philippines. However, the many barriers currently present in the market have collectively slowed down the rise of this bright new industry from taking off in the Philippines, unlike its neighbors in Asia.

The founders of BigBenta believe the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) will be the foundation of e-commerce in the Philippines and not the large companies. Though the MSME segment presents some challenges, BigBenta understands each and everyone of them and believes that it has the solutions and operational experiences to address them one step at a time, efforts which will eventually translate to its success in the Philippine market.

Hence, BigBenta has developed an approach that defines its current commercial and technical initiatives. Commercial initiatives such as a sales & marketing approach that is customer-driven, responsive, prudent, evolving, and patient in solving customer problems. These attributes are what the market requires at the moment. Technical initiatives such as an in-house and open source platform development, instead of deploying an over-the-counter or an outsourced platform, suited for a local market that needs customized, innovative, and evolving solutions.

Here is a small Interview from the Founder of Big Benta Mr. Charlie Fong.

BigBenta and Its Offerings-

About a year ago, BigBenta launched its Classified Ads service. It was intended to give the local market an alternative to the dominant player as well as build its own presence in the local online market. The market for online classified ads has since intensified among the players, but it has also generated the right interest among the older population, which reinforces the message that Internet will be part of everyone’s life more and more.

Around March of 2016, the company launched its online store called “BigBenta Store” where now, close to a hundred merchants have set up their online store and started selling to anyone nationwide. BigBenta Store is the manifestation of the company’s belief and support for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME).

The major difference of BigBenta Store from the competitors is it allows the merchants (Storeowners) to create their own online store based on their preferences like items to sell, its varieties (e.g. color, sizes, etc.), inventory level, pricing, promotion rules, payment method, customer management, report management and many more. The online store will soon be equipped with features like chat, abandoned cart management, customer survey, and complaint management that are all designed to put the storeowners in control of their online store and everything that happens in it.

To complete BigBenta Marketplace, the company officially launched its 3rd platform, BigBenta Service Booking this month. In terms of its full range of offerings, BigBenta Marketplace stands as truly one-of-a-kind having three platforms, built to respond to the needs of Filipino customers and entrepreneurs.

BigBenta Service Bookings allows any skilled individual (a.k.a. Service Provider or SP) to directly offer their services based on their preferred location, time, work scope and rate charges. Likewise, customers can also specify, browse and choose their preferred service provider using a variety of criteria.  Most services offered are blue collar in nature (e.g. plumbers, electrician, tutors, masseuse, beauticians, etc.) while there are also some professional services available like bookkeeping, accountancy, events management, and others.

BigBenta Service Booking was developed to provide additional income to service providers outside their full-time or daytime jobs, while giving them full flexibility based on their available schedule and place of residence. The major difference of BigBenta Service Booking compared to competition is its positioning that is geared towards individual service providers rather than service companies or agencies. For the customer, this means that prices are lower, service duration is flexible (e.g. hourly, half-day, whole day, per call, etc.), and scope of services is equally varied. For as long as a service provider can do it, he or she can offer it, in her own terms.

BigBenta Marketplace and its entire service portfolio will soon be available on mobile (Android and iOS). To prevent fraud, fake items and persons with character issues from offering their services in BigBenta Store and BigBenta Service Booking, the company implements an authentication and verification (A&V) process to all its storeowners and service providers on an annual basis. Every product item and service being offered including its purchase and booking are screened and verified by BigBenta’s customer support, all done to protect the customers.

  • Any merchant can build their own online Store, promote, sell and receive payments for their products and learn about their customers via data analytics.
  • Any skilled individual or service establishment can offer, promote, receive bookings and payment for their services as service providers based on their preferred time and location.
  • Anyone can post his or her classified ads for free.
