Sy Bryan D. Lato, the newly elected president of the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA), will push for initiatives and collaborations that will increase Filipino marketers' knowledge of how Web3 technology can be used in marketing.

“When the economy opened last year, we saw the physical and digital worlds intersect. People who returned to work endured heavy traffic and still attended online meetings at home. The challenge for Filipino marketers is to be able to help institutions and businesses communicate their message to very preoccupied consumers. Reaching this market is another challenge that Filipino marketers face. The PMA would like to help them tap into this demographic by showing them how they can effectively apply Web3 technology to marketing their business. I want the PMA to be a platform for intellectual and marketing discourse. By opening its membership to Filipino marketers abroad, we are making them a part of the discussion. We could exchange data, executions, and best practices. They could gain insights about the Philippine market and, in turn, share their own ideas with Filipino marketers in the country. This is the best time for you to join the organization, share your ideas, and network.” ~Sy Bryan D. Lato, Newly-elected Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) President

Marketing to Gen Z and Millennials

Lato mentioned that the market is now dominated by millennials and Generation Z members. He claimed that the latter are internet natives because they were born in the decade prior to its widespread use.

The organization has selected "Level-Up Metaverse Marketing" as its theme for the year 2023. According to Lato, it was inspired by Dr. Donald L. Lim, the lead convenor of the most recent Philippine Blockchain Week and former PMA President. Web3 and the Metaverse's benefits and advancements were the focus of the nine-day event.

Welcoming Filipino Marketers Abroad to the PMA

Lato shared that one of the organization's major initiatives this year is allowing foreign Filipino marketers to join the PMA. This is in addition to promoting the Web3 and Metaverse.

By the end of the first quarter of this year, PMA membership will be available to Filipinos living abroad.

Additionally, Lato urged marketing professionals in the nation who have not yet joined the PMA to do so.

Something New for the National Conference and Agora Awards

Lato revealed that they would host a National Marketing Conference in July with guest speakers from both domestic and international marketing organizations. They would also have a track just for marketers of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) who want to get a head start on Metaverse Marketing.

The Agora Awards, the most prestigious award for professional Filipino marketers, will also be revamped this year. Lato stated that they would soon announce the new awards rules.
