A Village of Love: McDonald’s Philippines Celebrates Shared Motherhood

Behind every child who grows up feeling loved, supported, and understood is frequently a village of people who silently assist along the way.

Many Filipino families provide care throughout generations and communities. It comes from parents who work tirelessly to provide, lolas who offer guidance, titas who step in when necessary, teachers who encourage, and caregivers who care for children as if they were their own. These ordinary acts of kindness, which are sometimes invisible, develop a child's sense of security, confidence, and belonging.

This Mother's Day, McDonald's Philippines continues its celebration of shared motherhood with a new documentary video that honors those who help raise a kid alongside their parents.

A Daughter’s Moving Tribute

Alyssa Segura is at the core of the documentary, sharing how her life was impacted not only by her mother's unwavering love, but also by the community that supported her growth and success. In the film, Alyssa collects the women who have been a part of her path, including her grandmother, aunts, teachers, and yaya, for a simple yet touching tribute at McDonalds.

As the story progresses, the video examines how caring is frequently communicated in quiet, ordinary moments: showing up, leading, encouraging, and simply being present during life's trials and milestones.

“Hindi magiging ganito si Alyssa kung wala yung tulong ng mga taong nasa paligid ko… Ako po ay nagpapasalamat sa inyo (Alyssa wouldn't be like this without the help of the people around me… I am grateful to all of you). I love you all. Thank you is not enough, but thank you for being there for me always. To my mom, thank you so much for bringing me into this beautiful world and introducing me to the most beautiful people.” ~Alyssa Segura

The documentary honors everyone who shared her journey of parenting Alyssa. Alyssa also shows gratitude in sign language.

The video eventually serves as a reminder that motherhood is rarely undertaken alone. Behind every child is typically a community of people whose love has a long-lasting impact.

“At McDonald’s Philippines, we honor everyone who is a part of this village. This Mother’s Day, we look forward to celebrating these women through shared meals and meaningful moments in our store.” ~Ada Almendras-Lazaro, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Philippines
