DHL Express and Brother Industries (Philippines), Inc. Commit to Reducing Carbon Footprint with sustainable aviation fuel

Through DHL Express's GoGreen Plus service, Brother Industries (Philippines), Inc. and DHL Express have partnered to strengthen their commitment to lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Brother can cut its annual GHG emissions related to international parcels by 30% by utilizing this service, the book, and the claim methodology.

DHL, a leader in global logistics, is committed to reaching a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions target by 2050 and is committed to leading by example in sustainable logistics. One important program that helps users use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to lower the greenhouse gas emissions of their international shipments is the GoGreen Plus service. Made from waste materials, renewable energy, or sustainable plants, SAF is a more environmentally friendly jet fuel. Compared to conventional jet fuel derived from fossil fuels, it reduces greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 80%.

The Brother Group's Environmental Vision 2050, which attempts to reduce GHG emissions across all activities in order to minimize the environmental impact of its business operations, is in line with the partnership with DHL Express. The company calculates and reports its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, which represent direct and indirect emissions in own assets as well as within its supply chain, in accordance with globally recognized standards like the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, EN 16258, and the Global Logistics Emissions Council Framework. DHL Express uses the Voluntary Market Based Measures Framework for Logistics Emissions Accounting and Reporting, published by the Smart Freight Center, as a guide to calculate the market-based effects.

“GoGreen Plus enables Brother Industries (Philippines) to reduce its Scope 3 emissions, the indirect GHG emissions in a company's value chain, including downstream transportation and distribution. We hope this collaboration will inspire more companies to adopt low-emission transportation services using sustainable aviation fuel.” ~Nigel Lockett, DHL Express Philippines Country Manager

“Our partnership with DHL Express reflects our sustainable efforts to reduce the environmental impact of the manufacturing and logistics industries.” ~Wataru Shimizu, Brother Industries (Philippines), Inc., General Manager

In 2023, DHL Express launched the GoGreen Plus service, allowing customers to reduce the GHG emissions associated with their international air freight via SAF. GoGreen Plus is made possible by three of the most significant SAF contracts with bp, Neste, and World Energy.
