Belmont Hotel Manila continues to champion Filipino creativity with Hiraya: Beyond the Gallery, which features Filipino landscape photographer Brix Tan's first solo exhibition.
The exhibition brings Tan's collection of fine art landscape photography into the hotel, allowing guests and visitors to see the beauty of the Philippines thru his lens.
The exhibition marks the latest chapter in Hiraya, the hotel's platform for Filipino artists and creatives. Hiraya has provided a platform for local talent to showcase their work and connect with new audiences since its inception, expanding the reach of Filipino art beyond the traditional gallery setting.
For Tan, the exhibition marks an important milestone in his photography journey.
“As a fine art landscape photographer, this is my Hiraya. To have my own solo exhibit, to share and showcase the beautiful landscapes of the Philippines.” ~Brix Tan, Filipino Landscape Photographer
Tan's perspective on the Philippine landscape is presented in this collection, which includes photographs from Batanes, Zambales, Mt. Pulag, Quezon, Batangas, Baler, Albay, and SOCCSKSARGEN.
The featured works include Tenacious, which captures the rugged coastline of Ivana, Batanes; Gatekeeper, which features the Sabtang Lighthouse and its connection to Ivatan heritage; and Generations, which uses mangroves along Sarangani Bay to reflect on environmental responsibility and the future.
Tan's LUMIBOX Series, in which selected photographs are presented as illuminated fine art pieces, adds a new dimension to the exhibition and provides a unique perspective on the Philippine landscape.
Tan, an accomplished HR executive and entrepreneur, has honed his photography skills over the years and has won international awards for landscape and cityscape photographs. His work combines technical composition and personal connection, using photography to tell stories about the places he visits.
His dedication to the arts extends beyond his personal practice. Tan founded Montage Art Collective in 2021, an initiative that helps local painters, sculptors, and fine art photographers gain access to the art scene and showcase their work.
Hiraya's core mission is to advocate for Filipino artists. Belmont Hotel Manila continues to support local artists by making its spaces available for creative collaborations and exhibitions, while also allowing guests, travelers, and the general public to discover Filipino art in an accessible setting.
The featured artworks are available for purchase in limited editions, allowing collectors and art enthusiasts to own select pieces from Tan's debut solo exhibition. Several works, including those from the LUMIBOX Series, are produced in limited editions of ten.
Hiraya: Beyond the Gallery featuring Brix Tan is open for viewing at the hotel lobby until September 30, 2026.
