Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines crowns a new champion, with Manila's Izzy Johnson qualifying for the world finals in Zurich

Against a backdrop of loud cheers, flashing lights, and constant rhythm, Manila's Izzy Johnson won the Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines National Finals, defeating the country's most spectacular street dancers in a crowd-voted duel. With every rhythm, reaction, and energy change, Izzy proved to be the last dancer standing in Bridgetowne in Pasig, earning the championship and the privilege to represent the Philippines on the global stage in Zurich, Switzerland.

“I felt that all my pressure was replaced by excitement. The crowd became my fuel. When I saw they were happy with my dancing, I felt like I had already won. Because of the dance community, I was able to find my own style. I used to only do choreographed dances before. But freestyle is different. I used to freestyle on my own, but thanks to the dance community, I was able to learn more. I also absorbed some of their maturity—that when it comes to dance, you don't have to be too technical. You just have to be true to your dance. I guess one of the dance battle tactics that helped me was learning to connect with the crowd through my movements. Since this is Red Bull Dance Your Style, it was so important that they understood my movements. Our artistry must touch their hearts. To represent the Philippines at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals is to represent the people. But first of all, it starts with me, I’m a Filipino, so I represent myself first. And I represent every Pinoy that helped me get to this moment.” ~Izzy Johnson, Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines 2026 Champion

Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines competitors Nemesis from Cebu and Doodsieroll from Davao joined Izzy in setting the heated tone for the evening. The National Finals showcased the depth and diversity of Philippine street dancing, combining international talent, local energy, and a passion for the art form.

A Night Where the Crowd Took Control

The National Finals started off quickly. With no judges on the panel, every choice was left to the audience, transforming the dance floor into a space where connection with the crowd was as important as execution.

Each battle unfolded like a live dialog between the DJ, the dancer, and the audience, with dancers entering each battle not knowing which tune would play next. As tracks switched unexpectedly, athletes were compelled to switch techniques, flip the energy, and respond precisely under pressure. The audience responded in real time with applause and excitement, fueling momentum and selecting who advanced and who quit the competition.

As the bouts progressed, the link between dancer and audience became clearer, influencing the overall flow of the event. It produced an energy loop that transformed every moment into something larger, louder, and more unpredictable.

A Champion Carrying a Nation’s Rhythm

By the final round, one dancer had constantly held the audience's attention. Izzy utilized musicality, control, and presence to generate standout performances in several games. His ability to adapt to new tracks while preserving a strong sense of self ultimately clinched the victory. Izzy's performance provided the audience with a familiar reflection of her native roots, cultural inspirations, and the everyday movement that distinguishes Filipino street dance.

Izzy opened out about his influences and appreciated the local Filipino dance culture. Throughout the night, Izzy displayed an ability to control the music. He mastered the ability of combining groove, unrivaled energy, and spontaneity to create rounds that thrilled the crowd.

A Battle Map Across the Philippines

The National Finals were more than just a tournament; they were like a moving cultural map. It demonstrated how distinct styles from various regions in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao continue to create the country's street dancing scene.

Cebu's Nemesis burst onto the scene with explosive, grounded power, entrenched in strength, grit, and raw passion. Each strike was delivered with purpose, capturing the audience's attention from the opening beat.

From Mindanao, Davao's Doodsieroll responded with seamless musicality. He was able to blend rhythm and movement into seamless combinations with control and timing, resulting in moments that felt effortless yet highly planned, bringing the audience into each transition.

Izzy represented the capital with a strong, adventurous edge. He experimented with textures, tempo, and unexpected freestyle choices, challenging traditions and making each round unpredictable.

Regardless of their peculiarities, each dancer added to a larger narrative. Their styles did not collide; rather, they converged. The struggle evolved into a vibrant showcase of Filipino ingenuity, with regional characteristics standing out while working toward a common goal: promoting the Philippines on a global scale.

From the Philippines to the World Stage

With the national title secured, Izzy turns his attention to the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals, where champions from over 54 countries will compete in a global collision of sound, style, and identity.

It's a stage where no two dancers move in the same way, and cultural expression takes center stage. For Izzy Johnson, it's an opportunity to channel the energy of a whole country into the global arena.

While street dancers from across the country demonstrated their various styles and approaches to dance, the Philippines appeared on the Red Bull Dance Your Style stage as a cohesive force, forged from disparate islands that now move as one. As Izzy prepares to enter the global arena, one thing is certain: the Philippines is bringing a flair and intensity that the world cannot ignore.

The passion and success of Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines were made possible by the contributions of official event partners Army Navy, Hertz, Mophie, and Posh, who fueled the local street dance community and boosted this year's spectacular competition.
